The Toy Research Institute (AIJU) was inaugurated in 1985 as a non-profit making organisation designed to provide support to companies within the toy sector and related industries. AIJU currently has 600 associated companies and a team of more than 50 technical experts specialising in various disciplines related to toys and play. Its Educational Product Department comprises psychologists, educationalists, teachers and sociologists and has sufficient capacity to assess in aspects relating to human development, learning, play activities, consumer trends and behaviours, the search for new market opportunities etc. In addition, it provides companies with the necessary guidance for reaching the optimum level of adaptation of the game-toy to the user, by carrying out studies on the play value, duration, manipulability, suitability for age, educational quality etc. In recent years, the educational department has worked closely with schools, carrying out research work relating to the adaptation of teaching materials to a play format, didactic evaluation of various types of play resources and the compilation of teaching guides.

The University research unit for this proposal is the Centre for Applied Research in Education (located in a university research-pilot high school) This Centre belongs to the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences. The centre was founded with a World Bank major grant in 2000, with the main goal to develop the education and psychological research on school issues. This centre provides also, teacher training and counselling programs in the field of differentiated and personalized curricula for different categories of children & youth, including those with behavioural disorders. A special research focus goes to the didactics issues of transforming behavioural disorders into identifying and developing individual's talents.

"El Cerezo" is a Social Insertion Day Centre founded in September 2006. This Centre was set up in co-operation with the Regional Government of Valencia (Spain) - Social Wellbeing Department. The main objective of this centre is to reinsert young people from 14 to 18 years old in the society, training them in the acquisition of social capabilities and values needed for this re-insertion. This process is always carried out with the support and consent of parents, helping in the behavioural and attitude change of this collective. This Centre is made by a multidisciplinary professional team including two teachers, a workshop manager, a social worker and a manager of global resources. The Centre organises individual and group activities: educative, training, entertainment, culture, with the aim to develop and improve the social capabilities, interpersonal relationship, conflict resolutions and healthy use of leisure time.

Most of ROTALENT members are outstanding teachers; many of them graduated faculties of Educational Sciences and Psychology; some of them have PhD titles in the fields of creativity, giftedness, under-achievement, special emotional needs. They are effectively involved in different national and international research-action programs.
